The Welsh Baccalaureate, or Welsh Bacc for short, is unique to Wales.
It has been introduced to prepare students between the ages of 14 and 19 for employability, further study and life. A student is awarded the Welsh Bacc by completing the Skills Challenge Certificate - an innovative skills-based qualification along with achieving a specified combination of qualifications.
The Skills Challenge Certificate (SCC) is a qualification that will develop and assess your skills, attributes and behaviors. It sits along side your other qualifications, and you will see that a number of the skills you develop whilst studying the SCC will be used while you study your other subjects. They are transferable skills that you should develop and use to show that you can adapt to different circumstances and situations, when working individually or in a team. They are skills that you will need when you leave school to use in the work place, or if you go on to study at sixth form and then on to University.
The KS4 National/Foundation Welsh Baccalaureate is awarded when you have passed the SCC and the supporting qualifications shown in the wheel above.
